There is a fair amount of speculation about whether Sourav Ganguly will lose the captaincy of the Indian cricket team by the end of 2005. And even if Ranbir Singh Mahendra wins, he could assert his independence from Jagmohan Dalmiya by sacking Ganguly, whom he hates.
Indisposition to Ganguly that causes him to miss some games will not be considered his losing the captaincy. Only if someone else is appointed captain despite Ganguly being available will he have considered to have lost the captaincy.

Ramey, good point. I would say ‘loses’ would mean *either* one day or test captaincy. So even if he loses one but retains the other, this should be considered a true outcome. Of course Bluespan has the final say :)
